"Long ago Rudy Abplanalp was the village blacksmith in Fosterdale. He owned the land from Easons on Route 52 around the 4 corners on Rt 17B to the Fischer property. Rudy sold that parcel in the 1920's to Tony Hoffman. He moved his shop to a barn on the present Darling property, which he sold to Willard Westervelt in 1931."
