Harold D. Kreger, 76, 1532 Casselman Road, Rockwood, died Nov. 8, 1997, at Allegheny General Hospital, Pittsburgh. Born Feb. 11, 1921, in Upper Turkeyfoot Township, a son of the late William W. and Pearl (Clevenger) Kreger. Preceded in death by wife of 54 years, Gladys L. (Gary). Survived by 3 sons: Harold Jr., Confluence; Larry, Friedens, and Kerry, of Markleton; 5 grandchildren: Melanie, Melissa, Kimberly, James and Nicholas; 3 brothers: John and Charles of Markleton, and Orville of West Finley, and 2 sisters: Anna Kreger, Markleton, and Dorothy Zeigenfuss, of Painted Post, N.Y.; also a good friend, Betty Pletcher of Rockwood. Member of Kingwood Church of God. A life member and past president of New Centerville and Rural Volunteer Fire Department. Former EMT and captain of New Centerville Ambulance. Member of Meyersdale Masonic Lodge 554, F.& A.M. A U.S. Navy veteran of World War II, he served with the Seabees on Okinawa. Retired mine foreman with GM&W Coal Co. Was active with the New Centerville Farmers and Threshermen's Jubilee for many years and was an avid hunter and sportsman. Friends received from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. today at the Humbert Funeral Home in Confluence and from 10 a m. to 1:30 p.m. Tuesday, the hour of service, Rev. James Monticue officiating. Interment, Kingwood IOOF Cemetery. Family suggests memorial contributions to the Kingwood Church of God or New Centerville and Rural Volunteer Fire Dept.
