BASS, LINDA KAY, 51, passed away Tuesday, Jan. 1, 2002, at Pineville Community Hospital. She was born March 6, 1950, in Middlesboro, a daughter of Marie Sowders and the late James Bass. She was a member of Southside Baptist Church. In addition to her father, she was preceded in death by her stepfather, Herbert Sowders. Survivors include her mother, Marie Sowders, Middlesboro; sisters, Brenda Lane of Lima, Ohio, Viva Terry of Orlando, Fla.; brothers, Everette Bass of Altamote Springs, Fla., James Bass of Ovido, Fla.; and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. Friday at Creech Funeral Home with the Rev. Jay Sulfridge presiding. Burial will be in Carr Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Allen Hopper, Jay Hopper, James Hopper, Charles Spurlock, Ben Spurlock, Eddie Hoffer, Bobby Lawson, Mark Hopper. Honorary pallbearers will be Connie Hopper, and Dr. Talmadge V. Hays. Visitation is from 6-9 p.m. today at Creech Funeral Home, which is in charge of arrangements.
