Our sweet and loving wife, mother, daughter, sister, aunt, and friend will be missed by all.
She is survived by her husband, Andrew White Abbitt; daughters, Carter Lawton Abbitt and Elizabeth Abbitt Stary and husband, Michael; her parents, Robert Swift and Barbara Forloine Cross; brother, Robert Stafford Cross; sister, Robin Cross Ritter and husband, Todd; three grandchildren, William, Olivia, and Jacob; 11 sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law; and 12 nieces and nephews.
She was a 1979 School of Communications graduate of Virginia Commonwealth University.
She was an active member of First Baptist Church, Richmond.
She was a 32-year employee of ChildFund International as Publications Manager. She traveled and worked in many capacities while employed at ChildFund International.
Alison loved family and friends, entertaining, gardening, photography, writing, the beach and the river.
After private interment in Hollywood Cemetery, her memorial service was held 1pm Tuesday, July 3, 2012, at First Baptist Church, 2709 Monument Avenue, Richmond, VA 23220, with a reception following at the church.
