Rose M. Harper was born September 9, 1915, in St. Joseph, Kansas, and passed away Wednesday, March 17, 2010 at Salina Regional Medical Center, Salina, KS, at the age of 94 years. Rose attended school in St. Joe, Kansas, and attended High School in Clyde, Kansas. She was a member of St. John the Baptist Catholic Church and a member of Catholic Daughters for 30 years. Rose was a homemaker, and worked at the St. Joseph's Hospital for a number of years. In her spare time she was a well-known talented seamstress.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Harvey; her parents, George and Emma (Cardinal) L'Ecuyer; two brothers; five sisters; son-in-law, J.E. (Ernie) Hamel; and one great-granddaughter.
Rose is survived by two daughters, Arlene Hamel of Russell, Kansas, and Carolyn and husband, Duane Nickerson of Omaha, Nebraska; son, Rex Harper and wife, Jolene of Concordia, Kansas; sister, Mae and husband, Mike Baba of Wichita, Kansas; 13 grandchildren; 28 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; and a host of friends and other relatives. A Mass of Christian burial was at 10:30 a.m., Monday, March 22, 2010, at St. John the Baptist Church in Clyde, Kansas, with Father Larry Letourneau officiating. Interment was in the St. Mary's Catholic Cemetery, Clifton, Kansas. Visitation was 1:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. and Sunday 1:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m., at the Chaput Mortuary, Clyde, Kansas. A Parish Rosary was held at 3 PM Sunday at the funeral home and vigil service at 7:00 p.m. Sunday, March 21, 2010, at St. John the Baptist Church in Clyde, Kansas, with Father Larry Letourneau officiating. Visitation continued until 8:00 p.m. at the Church on Sunday. Memorials may be made to the Church.
