He was 2 months old then and tiny. I've never met such a bold little kitten. He never had a fear of anything and this got him into trouble through minor injuries on occasion. He was a good cuddler and would wake me up early in the morning with cuddles and snuggles. I miss those pink nose kisses that he freely gave.
He liked to chew on emery boards. It didn't matter where I hid them, I'd wake up with one or two on my bed with chew marks. I worked a lot of night shifts and if I was trying to nap in the afternoon, I'd close my door to block out household noises. If I didn't close it tight, he was strong enough that he'd just push the door open and would always announce his arrival. Then, he'd climb in bed with me and we'd nap together.
It amazed me how much he trusted his people. One time, he came to me and offered me a paw and meowed. I looked, and sure enough, he had somehow torn a claw partially out and it had become infected inside. So, I took him to the vet. Somehow, Blue seemed to know that I'd take care of it.
A co-worker gave me a kitten her cat had had and the last she needed a home for. He was a week older than Blue Eyes and considerably larger, but they were best friends.
I always say that your pets should know you love them or you aren't doing a good job as their person. I never ever doubted that Blue Eyes knew how very much he was loved.
On March 9, 2002, he died in my arms after a short battle with F.I.P. He had been hospitalized for about a week with the vet trying everything to save him. He was sent home without much hope and died in my arms two days later.
Blue -- I miss your stripies, your "apricot cap", your raccoon kink tail, your pink nose kisses, and most of all, your sweet love that you so freely gave.
I love little you forever!!!!!!
