Zachary, also known as, Zachariah Wade, arrived in Kent County, Maryland from Warwickshire, England circa 1641. He was an indentured servant to Margaret Brent, who was a prominent founding settler in the colonies of Maryland and Virginia. Miss Brent ranks among the most prominent women figures in early Colonial American history.

Zachary Wade later became Margaret Brent's legal representative. By 1657, he had moved to Charles Co., Maryland where he was chosen to represent New Town, Charles County, at the first Assembly of Maryland, which was held at St. Leonard's Creek, in April, 1657. Zachary was an attorney and held public office, from 1662 until his death in 1677, as a "Gentlemen Justice" or Commissioner of Peace of Charles County. He had extensive land holdings in Queen Anne's, Talbot, Charles, and Prince George's County, Maryland. There is quite a bit of information on Zachary Wade in the Maryland State Archives.

Zachary married Mary Hatton, a daughter of Richard and Margaret Hatton circa 1658 in Charles County. They had the following known children:

Jane Wade, born about 1659.
Mary Wade, born about 1661; died in infancy.
Richard Wade, born in 1664; died abt 1727.
Theodosia Wade, born in 1666; died abt 1749
Robert Wade, born in 1668; died 1713.
Edward Wade, born about 1670; died about 1672.
William Wade, born about 1673; died in infancy.
