Helen Chomas, 104, of Blaine Hill, passed away Tuesday, July 3, 2012, in Regent Care Center of The Woodlands, The Woodlands, Texas. Born May 10, 1908, in Brooklyn, N.Y., she was a daughter of Theodore and Anastasia (Geleta) Humenick. Active in her church, the Elizabeth United Methodist Church, she was a member of its Missionary Society and taught the Wafalo Sunday School class. Helen joins her husband, the late Michael Chomas. She is survived by her daughter, Elizabeth Ann "Betsy" (Carl) Calabro, of Spring, Texas; her five grandchildren, Dr. Dale (Tam) Chomas, of Watsontown, Pa., Nancy (Rick) Sams, of Parkersburg, W.Va., Jill Deahl, of Forward Township, Victoria Calabro, of Brooklyn Heights, N.Y., and Blaire Calabro, of Spring, Texas; her three great-grandchildren, Andrew Chomas, of Boulder, Colo., Kerry Chomas, of Trumbull, Conn., and James Sams, of Parkersburg, W.Va.; her sister, Ann Futscher, of Green Valley, Ariz.; her sister-in-law, Beverly Chomas, of Forward Township; also nieces and nephews. Besides her parents and husband, Helen was preceded in death by her son, Theodore R. Chomas. Friends will be received from 1 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday in the PAUL E. BEKAVAC FUNERAL HOME, 221 N. Second Ave., Elizabeth, PA 15037 (412-384-4344). A funeral service will be held at noon Monday in the funeral home with Pastor Diane E. M. Gobbel and Pastor Barbara Minter co-officiating. Procession to and burial in Mt. Vernon Cemetery will follow.
