Born into slavery in 1808, Page was brought to Florida by his owner, John Parkhill, in 1828. He was ordained as the first black Baptist minister in Florida at New Port, Wakulla County, in 1852. While still a slave, he formed his first congregation at Bel Aire, believed to be the oldest black church congregation in Florida.
Page served as a Justice of the Peace for Leon County after the Civil War and became a member of the Leon County Commission in 1870. He also served as chaplain of the Florida Senate 1868-1870.
Over 3,000 people attended his funeral in 1883.
