Prosser -- Bertha Cigarroa, 95, of Prosser, died at her home on Friday, August 13, 2004.

She was born on May 15, 1909 to Jacob and Catherine Basgall. Bertha was raised with ten other brothers and sisters in the Toppenish area before moving to Prosser in 1950.

Bertha loved to garden and go fishing. She loved all types of animals, her dogs in particular. Bertha was a homemaker, but still helped out on the ranch raising sheep and cattle. She was a great mom and will be dearly missed.

Survivors include a son, John Cigarroa of Prosser; daughters, Betty Eshleman of Granger and Mary Scharnhorst of Kennewick; sister, Virginia LaPierre of Granger and numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Bertha was preceded in death by her husband, John (1975); son, Frank Cavelli Jr.; infant daughter, Rose Cavelli and nine other brothers and sisters.

Graveside services will be held 10:00 a.m. on Friday, August 20, 2004 at Elmwood Cemetery in Toppenish. Those wishing to attend should meet at the cemetery. The family would like to give a special "Thank You" to Lower Valley Hospice for the loving care given to their mother. Funeral arrangements are in the care of Colonial Funeral Home.
