Ludwig August Conrad Becker was born March 23, 1878, at Cook County, Illinois, and died November 9, 1951, at a Garden City hospital.
As an infant he was received unto Holy Baptism. At the age of 14 years he renewed his baptismal vow by the rites of confirmation. He was a faithful member of the Deerfield Lutheran Church and atteneded services regularly as long as he was able to do so, and read the scriptures diligently.
At the age of 10 years he moved with his parents to Sylvan Grove, Kansas. In October of 1904 he came to Deerfield, Kansas, and took an interest in farming.
On April 25, 1905, he was united in marriage to Elisa Penner. To this union were born two children, the son, Edwin, preceded him in death.
He leaves to mourn his passing: his wife and daughter, Lillie; seven brothers: Wilhelm, John, Otto, Alvin, Herman, Adolph and Martin; also fives sisters, Amelia, Sophie, Alvina, Dena, and Martha; and other relatives and friends.
Funeral services were held on Monday, November 12, 1951, with the pastor, Karl E. Kuebler of Scott City, Kansas, officiating. Interment in the Deerfield Cemetery.
