Lester E. Kachel, of Morgantown Road, Cumru Township, died Monday at 11:13 a.m. in the Reading Hospital emergency room. His wife, Bertha (Schweitzer) Kachel, died Jan 4, 1993. Born in Green Hills, he was a son of the late Daniel and Rose (Miller) Kachel. Kachel had been the owner-operator of the former Kachel's Amoco, Flying Hills, for 21 years, retiring in 1969. He was a member of Allegheny Lutheran Church, Alleghenyville. Surviving are two daughters, Barbara A. (Kachel) Tribbett, Boyertown, and Emily A. (Kachel) Blimline, Spring Hill, Fla. Other survivors include two sisters, Carrie (Kachel) Burkhart, Geigertown, and Minnie (Kachel) Ebert, Reading. There are also four grandchildren, six great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren. Services will be Friday at 3 p.m. in Allegheny Lutheran Church. Burial will be in Allegheny Union Cemetery, Alleghenyville. Bean Funeral Home, Shillington, is in charge of arrangements.
