Rose was an abandoned cat living in the garbage dump at Mary Ellen's kindergarten. I started taking her food and soon the staff members at the kindergarten begged me to take her.
We call her "the Queen of the home" and often called her "Rose-ma-doze" as an affectionate nickname. She ruled.
About 6 months before she died, she hung by her snap-away collar on the fence. We heard her cry and by the time we got outside, the collar had released and she came walking in without her collar. It took a long time before we found it and figured out what happened. Over the next months, she declined rapidly. Apparently, there was brain damage from the accident. We finally had to have her put to sleep. Sad day!
