William C. Butler, 56, widely known horseman and former resident of Millbrook, who had made his home in Avon, Conn., for approximately 15 years, died in a hospital in Hartford, Conn., Wednesday. He had been ill only a brief time. Mr. Butler, who had owned a string of trotting horses for a number of years, had driven them on various tracks about the country. Born at "Five Acres" here, April 22, 1888, Mr. Butler was the son of the late Edmond and Ellen Cullinan Butler. He had made his home here until he went to Avon to reside. Surviving are his wife, Mrs. Katherine
M. Daly Butler; a son, Edmond D. Butler, Bristol, Conn.; a daughter. Mrs. Eileen Brown. Hartford, Conn.; two granddaughters; two brothers, John Butler, Hyde Park, and Edmond Butler, Chester; two sisters. Mrs. Sally O'Brien and Mrs. Louise O'Brien, Dover Plains; a niece and two nephews.
