Roman Catholic Cardinal. Born to a noble family in Fabriano, Giuseppe Vallemani went to Rome at a young age and joined the court of Cardinal Emilio Altieri, later Pope Clement X. Privy Chamberlain of His Holiness and later coppiere, he was successively named referendary of the tribunals of the Apostolic Signature of Justice and of Grace, canon of the Patriarchal Vatican Basilica, custos of the archive of Castel Sant'Angelo, secretary of the Sacred Congregation of Rites, secretary of the Sacred Congregation of Ecclesiastical Immunity and secretary of the Sacred Congregation of Religious Discipline during the pontificate of Pope Clement XI. Ordained priest in January 1700, he was consecrated archbishop of the titular see of Atena the following year and appointed assistant at the pontifical throne. Created cardinal and reserved in pectore in the consistory of May 17, 1706, Vallemani was appointed prefect of the Apostolic Palace and governor of Castelgandolfo for a triennium on June 7, 1706. His name was published in the consistory of August 1, 1707, receiving the title of Santa Maria degli Angeli alle Terme on the following November 28, from the named Pope Clement. Protector of the Order of Franciscan Friars Minor Conventual, upon his death, which occurred in Rome on December 15, 1725, at 10.15 am., his body was transferred to their basilica of the Ss. XII Apostoli and interred there two days later. The obsequies held in the same church saw the participation of Pope Benedict XIII.
