Perry became a renowned surgeon and Professor at Vanderbilt University in Nashville, TN. He was born in Rochester, New York, but was raised in Crockett, Houston County, Texas where his father was a Merchant and owned his own business on the Square, which now houses the Houston County Annex, the original brick store front saying The Bromberg Building is easily read.

His wonderful Mother sewed and sold bonnets to help pay for Perry's medical education. He lived up to his mother's high expectations. He was indeed, "the apple of her eye". Handsome and expert modest in spite of his professional fame and the many honors bestowed on him.

He married Daisy Kleeman and they had no children.
