Gilbert J. Abler, 65, of 1816 N. 18thSt,Sheboygan, died Satrday, Dec. 18, 1982, at St. Nicholas Hospital, Sheboygan, after a three-week illness.
Mr Abler was born Oct. 7, 1917, in Fond du Lac County to John and Ann Muellenbach Abler. He attended grade school in Mount Calvary. On Aug. 10, 1940, he married Florence Keller of Marinette at St. Anthony's Church, Marinette.
The couple resided in Marinette and Mount Calvary before moving to Sheboygan in 1949. He was employed at various mink ranches in the Sheboygan area and was employed at the Kohler .Co., Kohler, for 13 years. He retired in 1900.
Mr. Abler is survived by his wife of Sheboygan; three daughters, Mrs. Dennis (Joanne) Reimer of Cleveland. Mrs. William (Donna) Den Boer of Kohler and Mrs. Sheboygan ; seven grandchildren and two greatgrandchildren.
He is also survived by one brother, Edwin of Mount Calvary, and three sisters, Sister M. Cecile of Fond du Lac, Mrs. Benno Brenner of Mount Calvary and Mrs. Edward Meyer of Sheboygan. Two sisters and one brother preceded him in death.
Family and friends may call from 3 to 8 p.m. today and until 11 a.m. Monday at Ballhorn Chapels, Sheboygan. A prayer vigil will be held at 6:30 p.m. today, and family rites will be held at 10:30 a.m. Monday, both at the funeral home.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Monday at Holy Name Catholic Church. Sheboygan, of which he was a member. The Rev. James Hess will officiate, and entombment will be in Garden of Peace Mausoleum, Sheboygan. A memorial has been established in his name.
