Lawrenceville, GA- Madeline Shepard English, 94, died at Life Care Center of Gwinnett in Lawrenceville, Georgia, on July 15, 2012. Mrs. English was the daughter of the late Anna Ussery and William E. Shepard of Laurens County, Georgia. She lived most of her adult life in Macon where she was a member of Cherokee Heights Baptist Church. She is preceded in death by her husband, Luther C. English, her grandson, Alan Kersey, her stepmother, Bessie Underwood Shepard, and fourteen siblings.
Mrs. English is survived by two daughters: Ann English Kersey (Gerald) of Lawrenceville, GA, and Helen English Ellis (John) of Gainesville, VA. Also surviving are four grandchildren: Davis Kersey (Shari) of Asheville, N.C.; Lori Kersey McCane (Ron) of Jacksonville, FL; Ruthi Ellis David (Doug) of Chantilly, VA; and Rodney Ellis (Jen) of Gainesville, VA. Six great-grandchildren survive: Joshua Castleberry, Cheryl McCane, Andrew Kersey, Jack David, Nick David, and Madeline David. Three siblings survive Mrs. English: Harville Shepard (Betty) of Thomaston, GA; Fred Shepard (Shirley) of Lizella, GA; and Sarah Stagg (Paul) of Richmond, VA; as well as sisters-in-law, Nelle Shepard of Doraville, GA, and Doris Anne English of Wetumpka, AL. Many nieces and nephews also survive.
Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, July 18, 2012, at 11:00 a.m. at New Heights Baptist Church, Macon with the Reverend Gerald Kersey, Mrs. English's son-in-law, officiating. Interment will be at Macon Memorial Park. The family will receive friends at 10:00 a.m., before the funeral service.
