CONFLICT: The dates on this gravestone conflict with the dates of George's obituary. Two similar obituaries (see below) were published in the Mexico (New York) Independent (Thursday, November 25, 1943) and the Oswego (New York) Palladium-Times (Monday, November 22, 1943) both stating his birth date of July 5, 1871 and a calculated death date of Saturday, November 20, 1943.

Mexico-Funeral services for George Pluff, son of the late Frank and Margaret Green Pluff, who died in the town of Mexico, Saturday, after a brief illness, were held Monday morning at 10 o'clock at the funeral home of E. J. Fish. The services were conducted by Rev. Allan T. Dodge, pastor of First Methodist church. Mr. Pluff was born in Palermo, July 5, 1871.
Survivors include two brothers, Edward Pluff, Palermo; and Frank Pluff, Phoenix; also several nephews and nieces.
Interment was in Palermo Center cemetery.

Funeral services for George Pluff, 72, son of the late Frank and Margaret Green Pluff, who died in the town of Mexico Saturday after a brief illness, were held Monday morning at the E. J. Fish funeral home, conducted by the Rev. Allan T. Dodge, pastor of Mexico Methodist church.
Mr. Pluff was born at Palermo, July 5, 1871.
Survivors include two brothers, Edward Pluff, Palermo; and Frank Pluff, Phoenix; and several nephews and nieces.
Burial was in Palermo Center cemetery.
