He was born May 18, 1917, in Hellen, Pennsylvania, son of the late John Lukey Sr. and Julia Konyu Lukey.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife, Mary Ann Link Lukey, three brothers, George, Steve and Joseph Lukey, and two sisters, Ann Briar and Julie Kelner.
John was a member of Saint Mary's Byzantine Catholic Church in New Salem and a veteran of World War II, Company C, 103rd Medical Batallian. He was a dairy farmer for thirty-two years working with his partner and brother, George, who formed Lukey Brothers Dairy Farm which sold pasteurized and homogenized milk to the local community. John was a member of Footedale Fire Department and a member of V.F.W. Post 47.
He is survived by his wife, Kay Homer Lukey; his son, Michael Lukey of Addison; his daughter, Judie Float of Plain City, Ohio; two grandsons, Jamison Float and Jeremy Float and his wife Erin; one great-granddaughter, Sienna Float; and two sisters, Rose Fiala of Garfield Heights, Ohio, and Helen Zaycosky of Uniontown.
Friends will be received in the DEARTH FUNERAL HOME, New Salem, today, July 25, 2007, from 2 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m. and Thursday, July 26, 2007, until 9:30 a.m. when Panahida will be held in the funeral home. Divine Liturgy follows at 10 a.m. in Saint Mary's Byzantine Catholic Church, New Salem, with the Rev. Father Jerome G. Botsko officiating.
Interment will follow in Saint John's Byzantine Church Cemetery, Hopwood.
Parastas will be held in the funeral home this evening at 7 p.m.
