EVELYN E. ALLEN
(Mrs. Franklin) Evelyn E. Allen, age 100, formerly of 1710 Waldo Blvd., went to
her eternal home on Wednesday morning, July 30, 2008, at Harmony of Manitowoc
West.
Evelyn was born on Jan. 18, 1908, in Manitowoc, daughter of the late Paul and
Emma (Pelishek) Pankopf. She attended schools in Denmark and Manitowoc and
graduated with the class of 1926, from Lincoln High School, Manitowoc.
She married Franklin T. Allen on July 1, 1950, at the Plymouth Congregational
Church in Burlington. He preceded her in death on June 24, 1976.
Evelyn was employed at Badger Specialty Company for 25 years. She was a member
of the
Geyer's Topics Quarter-Century Club, an honorary organization of prominent
individuals who had served the industry in retailing, wholesaling or
manufacturing branches for more than 25 years.
Evelyn was an active member of the First Reformed United Church of Christ and
taught Sunday school for 35 years. She also did volunteer work at Shady Lane
Nursing Care Center and St. Mary's at Felician Village beauty shops. Evelyn
loved to shop and was a bargain hunter. She had a great sense of humor and was a
loving person.
Survivors include one sister: Clara Zerfas, Twin Lakes. Nieces, cousins and many
friends also survive.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband: Franklin; and one
stepbrother: Paul Pankopf Jr.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, Aug. 2, 2008, at the First
Reformed United Church of Christ, 3613 Waldo Blvd., Manitowoc. The Rev. Kim
Henning will officiate. Burial will be at Evergreen Cemetery in Manitowoc.
Relatives and friends may call at the Reinbold & Pfeffer Family Funeral Home,
818 State St., Manitowoc, from 5 until 7 p.m. on Friday (TONIGHT), Aug. 1, 2008,
and again on Saturday at church from 10 a.m. until the time of service at 11
