Longtime Resident Sherman Dahl Dies
Sherman E. Dahl, retired contractor and builder and resident of Grants Pass since 1933, died Monday (August 3, 1970) at Southern Oregon Hospital. He was 75, and lived at 438 NE Flint St.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Thursday in Hull & Hull Chapel with the Rev. Charles McCarthy officiating, Mausoleum entombment will follow at Hawthorne Memorial Gardens.
Born April 28, 1895, in New Centerville, Wis., Dahl moved with his family to Waubay, S.D., in 1911. On Sept. 8, 1917, he married Nyna Butler, who survives. They moved to Pasadena, Calif., in 1922, and to Grants Pass in 1933. He was a contractor and builder in California and continued in this type of work here until his retirement in 1962.
He was a member of Newman United Methodist Church, and was active in the Eagles and Elks Lodges, the Isaak Walton League, Oregon Cavemen and the Rogue Rovers Trailer Club.
Surviving in addition to the widow, Nyna, are a son, DeWayne. Grants Pass; two daughters, Donna Auestad, Portland and Carol Broderick, Klamath Falls; three brothers and one sister, all residing in California; 10 grandchildren and one great-granddaughter.
The family requests that those who wish,make memorial contributions to the Kidney Machine Foundation.
