Robert Burge Sproull, Jr., 79, of 727 Oakcrest Drive, died Friday, July 1. Mr. Sproull was born in Polk County on October 21, 1909 and was the son of the late Robert Burge and Millie Camp Sproull. He had resided in Polk County his entire life and attended the First United Methodist Church. He was a retired peace officer and a member of the Peace Officers Association of Georgia. Mr. Sproull served as a recorder for the City of Rockmart for 25 years and was a member of the Davitte Masonic Lodge Number 513 of Aragon. He was also a member of the Adoniram Chapter Number 41 Royal Masons of Cedartown and a member of the Low 12 Club. Surviving are his wife, Mrs, Myrtle Ash Sproull, Rockmart; two daughters, Mrs. Susan Thompson, Decatur, Ala., and Mrs. Gary Davis, Rockmart; two sisters, Mrs. R. J. Grimes and Mrs. Fred Braswell, both of Rockmart; two brothers, Joe Sproull, Rockmart and Ralph Sproull, Aragon. Five grandchildren and three great grandchildren also survive. Funeral services were held Sunday, July 3, at 3 p.m. at the First United Methodist Church with the Revs. Tom Lanford and Burch Fannin officiating. Interment followed in the Rose Hill Cemetery. The active pallbearers were Robert Grimes, Kirt Sproull, Ralph Sproull, Jr., Tye Tomlin, Kenneth Sproull and Ricky Woods. The honorary pallbearers included Guy Davenport, Sr., J. L. Brooks, Hugh Thomason, James E. White, Jack Selman, George Scott, Lewis Helms, Paul Morgan, W. P. Harper, John Redding, Judge Dan Winn, Wayne Gammon, Cecil Franklin and Perk Lane. The Freeman Harris Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
