Born Edmund Konrath to Philipp & Louisa (Hoebel) Konrath in Essweiler, Bavaria, Germany. He emigrated from Germany (Essweiler) to New York City in 1913 through Ellis Island. He was to stay with his brother, Jacob Conrad, in New Britain Connecticut. Jacob came to the states about 10 years earlier through Canada.
