EDITH LEATH JACKSON, 80, of Flat Lick, died Tuesday, September 5, 2000 in the Pineville Community Hospital.

She was the daughter of the late Mable Duncan Leath and William Leath, born to them on November 29, 1919 in Bell County.

She was a retired store clerk, a member of the DAR Knox County Chapter, when she attended Concord Baptist Church, she served in many capacities such as, WMU director, music director, Sunday school teacher, custodian, V.B.S. Director and directed the Christmas play for many years, and was a member of the Riverside Baptist Church at Fourmile.

On December 31, 1939, she united in marriage to Harold G. Jackson and to this union one daughter and four sons were born.

Survivors include her loving sons, William S (Sam) and wife Angela Kay and Wilburn C. (Wil) and wife Karen Genell, both of Flat Lick and Arthur A (Ott) and wife Sharon Kaye of Miami, Ariz.; her seven grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; her sister, Emma Hamby of California; and many loving nieces and nephews and other relatives and friends to mourn her passing.

Funeral services were conducted at the Concord Baptist Church on Friday, September 8 at 1 p.m. with the Rev. Larry Sowders, the Rev. John Partin and the Rev. Shane Nickell officiating.

Burial followed in the Nelson Gray Cemetery at Flat Lick. Hopper Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
