"Biographical Sketch" - William Bullen {son of John Sr.}, his brother {i.e. John Jr.} was one of the first claimants on the island {Washington Island, "Southport"} and afterwards procured a pre-emption on the claim made by H. Bacon. He pursued mercantile business and built a number of large houses and was much engaged in promoting the interests of the town. He was a member of the Territorial Council in 1838, the two sessions of 1839, and in 1840 and '41. He was honored as a citizen and legislator. He died some years since.
