Harry M. "Butch" Manners, 97
Harry M. Manners, 97, Cloe, died Friday, May 25, 2012, at Wellington Heights, Punxsutawney.
He was born August 12, 1914, in Albion, a son of the late John Albert and Katy Arminta (Himes) Manners.
On May 11, 1942, he married Wilma Yohe of Big Run. They have lived in Cloe for 68 years.
He was employed as a Carman and Wreckmaster by the B&O/C&O railroad for 35 years and retired from there in 1975.
He served as a PA State Constable and Jefferson Co. Deputy Sheriff for many years.
He enjoyed playing baseball, hunting, fishing, bowling, and golfing.
He attended the Pleasant Grove Presbyterian Church.
In addition to his wife, surviving relatives include two daughters; Katy Leisering and husband John of Erie, and Ruth Soliday of Punxsutawney; Five Grandchildren; Douglas Fye of Punxsutawney, Jennifer Soliday of Punxsutawney, Jeffrey Soliday of Ft. Meade, MD, David Leisering and wife LuAnn of Erie, and Mary Ellen Leisering of Houston, TX; Three Great-Granddaughters; Courtney Fye of Virginia Beach, VA, and Hailey and Ryleigh Leisering of Erie; one sister-in-law Lucille Manners of Punxsutawney; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; seven brothers; Paul, Joseph, Blair, Earl, Guy, Herbert, and Eugene Manners; four sisters; Sara Wagner, Melda Brosky Maurer, Betty Brunner, and infant Hazel Ruth; and a son-in-law James Soliday.
Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9pm, Tuesday, May 29, 2012, at the Deeley Funeral Home, Punxsutawney.
A funeral service will be held at 12pm, Wednesday, May 30, 2012, at the funeral home.
Interment will be in Lakelawn Memorial Park, Reynoldsville, PA.
