BERTHA (HANSON) BERGE

PIONEER WOMAN DIES SUDDENLY FROM A STROKE
Death came suddenly to Mrs. S. Berge at the family home just west of the city
on the Plank Road when she succumbed a few hours after suffering a stroke of
paralysis. Mrs. Berge had been ailing slightly for a number of weeks but had
been able to attend to her usual duties about the house. Yesterday afternoon
she suffered a stroke and death ensued at 6:30 last evening. The funeral will
be held Monday afternoon with services at the home at 1:30 and at St. Paul’s
Norwegian Lutheran church, of which she was a devout member, at 2 o’clock; the
Rev. O. K. Espeseth officiating. Burial will be at Evergreen.
Mrs. Berge, nee Bertha Hansen, was born at Valders, Norway September 13, 1852
and came to this city with her parents in 1865 and has lived here continuously
since. She was married to S. Berge in 1893 and is survived by her husband and
two daughters, Miss Inga S. Berge of Hutchinson, Minn., and Mrs. Sigward
Sanderson of this city. She is the last member of her own family, her brothers
and sisters having preceded her in death.
