Alvin W. Orth, age 85, a resident of St. Mary's Home for the Aged, Manitowoc, formerly of 1119 S. 15th St., Manitowoc, died late Saturday evening, January 21, 1995, at St. Mary's Home.


Funeral Services will be held at 9:30 a.m. Tuesday, January 24, 1995, at the Harrigan Parkside Funeral Home and 10 a.m. at St. Boniface Catholic Church. The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated by Rev. Gerald Prusakowski, O.F.M., with burial at Evergreen Cemetery, Manitowoc.


He was born August 15, 1909, in Manitowoc, son of the late George and Agnes Clark Orth. He attended Lincoln High School graduating with the class of 1928. Alvin had been a long time employee of Manitowoc Engineering retiring in 1973. He married Mary Chadek June 5, 1937, at St. Luke's Catholic Church, Two Rivers. He was a member of St. Boniface Catholic Church where he had served as an usher for many years. Alvin was also a charter member of the Eagles Aire #706, past president of the Machinist Union Local #516 and also past president of the Manitowoc County Bowling Association.


Survivors include his wife, Mary Chadek; one daughter and son-in-law, JoAnn and Edward Willert, Manitowoc; two sisters-in-law, Adelline Orth, Mildred Orth, both of Manitowoc; two grandchildren, Aimee (Michael) Drancik, Naperville, Ill., David Willert, Milwaukee; two great-grandchildren, Timothy and Nicholas Drancik; nieces, nephews, along with other relatives and friends surviving. He was preceded in death by one daughter, Rosemary Orth in 1985; four sister, Anita Maresh, Viola Brunner, Ruth Orth and Lucille Orth; three brothers, Donald, Raymond and Floyd Orth.


Friends may call from 5-8 p.m. Monday (TODAY) at the Harrigan Parkside Funeral Home where a prayer service will be held at 6:30 p.m. led by Father Prusakowski.


Memorials would be appreciated to the Alzheimer's Unit of St. Mary's Home, Manitowoc.
