James Kane was born in Crawford Co., Wisconsin Feb. 22, 1856. He moved to Nebr. in 1872 living at Morrillville until 1879, when he moved to Bloomfield, where he has lived since, except winters, he has spent in the south for his health, which has been very poor since June 1915. He went to Sioux City, where he entered St. Vincent's hospital for treatment and passed away on the morning of the 22nd, age 59 years, 4 months.

He leaves to mourn his loss three brothers, Patrick of Gayville, S.D., Philip of Sheridan Wyo. and Geo. of this city and sisters, Mrs. Louis Goetz of Hartington, Nebr., Mrs. Joseph Carroll and Mrs. Patrick Reefe of this city. All were present at the funeral except Patrick, who was unable to attend.

Among those out of town attending the funeral were; Dr. Will Mullen, Mr. and Mrs. Rodgers and daughter, Mr. and Mrs. Clarence Cooker, Mr. Liever, Mr. McGraw, Mr. Osher, Mr. LaBlanc, Mr. and Mrs. Abbenhaus and family, Mr. Abbis, Mr. Gartner, Mr. Jepson, Mr. Mueting of Bloomfield, Mr. James Reefe, Mr. William Reefe, Mr. and Mrs. John Abbenhaus of Royal, Mrs. Will N___ of Sioux City, Mr. Geo Mines of Yankton, S.D., Philip Kane of Sheridan, Wyo and Mr. and Mrs. Louis Goetz and son Geo. of Hartington.
