Miss Mary Bailey, aged 70 years, died Thursday afternoon after an illness of five weeks at the home of her sister, Mrs. Silas Hopkins, with whom she had lived for many years. The funeral will be held at the house, Saturday morning at 10 o'clock. Miss Bailey was born in Beekmantown, NY, one of a family of ten children of the Rev. Phineas Bailey, later pastor of the Congregational church in this place. She united with the Congregational church of Essex, NY, at the age of seven years, when so small she had to stand on the pew seat. She had been a patient sufferer for a long time from an infirmiry that made her a "shut-in" and devoted her time to painting, which she loved, and had left a large number of finished and unfinished pictures of considerable merit. She was a gentlewoman in every sense, ofnd of children, nature, and art and friends. She is survived by two sisters, Mrs. Silas Hopkins, of the place, and Mrs. J. Whitney, of Royalton, who was many years in the foreign missionary field. Other near friends are F.L. Hopkins, of Franklin, Mrs. E.P. Stevens, of St. Albans and Mrs. D. La Rock, of this place
