Vice President Freyberg of Local Manufacturing Concern is Summoned to His Reward - Has Been Active in Business for Many Years - Funeral Services Will Be Held

Herman Freyberg, 63 years of age and Vice President of the C.B. Freyberg Lumber Co., passed away last evening at 9 o'clock at Dr. Dewey's Hospital, Wauwatosa, where he had been taking treatments for the past week.

Mr. Freyberg was highly esteemed by those who knew him and his death is deeply deplored. He was born in Elchminde, Germany, March 26, 1850 and migrated to this country with his parents when but one year old. His parents moved west and settled in the Town of Meeme, where his father started a blacksmith shop and conducted this for some years. Mr. Freyberg learned the trade from his father and also worked at the business for some time. Later he moved to Sheboygan with his brothers and started a flour mill which was located in those days where the Sheboygan Novelty company's plant is being operated today. Later he moved to Washington Island which was then but a wilderness, only a few lumbermen and fishermen living upon this Island. He built a new saw mill there and conducted a general store for seventen years. In the meantime he also did considerable fishing in Green Bay.

About sixteen years ago he returned with his family back to Sheboygan and became interested int he Freyberg Lumber company and also the Sheboygan novelty company.

The decedent had been in apparently good health up to about four weeks ago when he was stricken with heart failure. After forty-eight hours from the time he was taken ill he seemed to be improving but was very weak. He was advised to go to Wauwatosa and was taken there a week ago.

Last Saturday his brother Albert visited him and he appeared stronger. Later he commenced to fail and a message was received from Dr. Dewey at 6 o'clock last night stating that he was in critical condition and members of the family immediately left for Wauwatosa but he died before they arrived.

He is survived by one brother, Albert Freyberg, and six children: Mrs. Randolph Helmer of Moore, Montana; Mrs. John Kuehlmann of Sault Ste. Marie; Louise, Edward, Ella, and William Freyberg of this city. His wife preceded him in death five years ago.

The remains were broguht here this afternoon and taken to his late home, 417 Center avenue, where the funeral will be heldFriday afternoon at 2 o'clock. The Rev. Horstmeier will officiate. Internement will be in Wildwood Cemetery.
