Arnevis "Dot" Coon, 85, of Jayess, died January 18, 2011 at Southwest Mississippi Regional Medical Center. She was born July 14, 1925 in Anniston, Alabama. She was the daughter of Walter Ed and Ina Nell Hendrix Green. She was the retired owner/operator of Coon's Grocery and Cafe. She was a longtime member of New Bethel Jesus Name Church in Enon.

She is preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Emery Coon; two daughters, Lorraine Coon and Barbara Coon; two brothers, James Green and Sargent Green and seven sisters, Ruth Green, Margaret Ray, Isma Hilvurn, Willie Brown, Velma Renfroe, Vera Renfroe and Minnie Mae Johnson.

She is survived by five sons and three daughters-in-law, Joel Steve Coon of Amite, LA, Thomas Mitchell Coon and Marcia, Benny E. Coon and Dinnia and Randall Allen Coon, all of Jayess and Phillip Wayne Coon and Holly of Pricedale; two sisters, Audrey Huff of Anniston, AL and Mavis Sellers of Weaver, AL; 18 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.

Visitation is Thursday at New Bethel Jesus Name Church from 5PM until services at 11AM Friday with Bro. Larry Reed and Bro. Gary Robinson officiating. Burial will be in Enon cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Trenton Coon, Chase Coon, Joel Coon, Joseph Coon, Ryan Coon and Mitch Coon. Honorary pallbearers will be Doug Coon and David Coon.
