Mildred Striegel, age 85, passed away on Wednesday, August 7, 2012 at the Mandan Care Center.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 am MT, Saturday, August 11, 2012 at Bethesda Lutheran Church with Pastor Rose Trenbeath will officiate. Burial will be in the Bethesda Lutheran Cemetery. Visitations will be from 1:00 to 7:00pm at the Evanson-Jensen Funeral Home in Elgin and on Saturday one hour prior to service at the church south of Leith.

Mildred Ketterling was born on September 23, 1926 to Andrew and Katrina (Meidinger) Ketterling. She attended and graduated high school in Leith. Thereafter, she obtained a teaching certificate through Dickinson State College and taught one year in a one-room school on the Cannonball River south of Carson, ND. On January 3, 1947, Mildred married John H. Striegel and they made their home on the farm. Mildred and John had four daughters and one son. John died in 1984 and several years later Mildred moved to Carson where she lived until the time of her death.

Through the years, Mildred worked on the family farm and raised the children alongside John. The Bethesda church community was a very important part of their lives. Mildred was a wonderful seamstress, a quilter, an avid reader and especially the past few years, stitched beautiful embroidery work.

Mildred is survived by her daughters, Jeanette (Tom) Hanson, Fargo and Pamela (Toby) Lemieux, Boise, ID and her son, Jeffrey (Shari) Striegel, Carson; son-in-law Dale Johnson, Hazen, ND; ten grandchildren, Chad Tibke, Beth Tibke, Lee (Michelle) Johnson, Lisa (Megan) Johnson, TJ Lemieus, Christopher Striegel, Samantha Striegel, Mike (Teri) Hanson, Kerri (Chad) Wolsky, Nicole (Matt) Ryan; six great granddaughters, six great grandsons; her brother, LeRoy Ketterling and her sister, Lillian Neher.

Mildred was preceded in death by her daughters, Margaret Striegel and Claudia Johnson and her husband John.

In lieu of flowers a Memorial has been established to the Bethesda Lutheran Church.
