Lawrence Martin Bergeman, son of Martin and Lucy (Saewert) Bergeman was born on May 8, 1926 at Stirum, North Dakota. He attended country school near Stirum, and graduated from Stirum High School. After his schooling, he farmed with his father and brother in the Stirum area. He later started a livestock trucking business while continuing to farm. Lawrence was united in marriage to Shirley Mathias on June 10, 1956 at Immanuel Lutheran Church, Stirum. Lawrence was appointed as a Farmers Union Insurance Agent on January 16, 1961, and served Farmers Union policyholders in Sargent County until his retirement on November 1, 2001.
At 83 years of age, Lawrence passed away on Friday, September 18, 2009, at Innvois Health, Fargo, North Dakota.
He is survived by his wife, four children, seven grandchildren, and three great-grandchildren. He is also survived by a brother, Lester Bergeman, and a sister, Delores Fletcher. Lawrence was preceded in death by his parents.
