Manitowoc Man Is Killed In Fall
Joseph Biely, 48, of North 23rd street, an iron worker employed by the
Worden-Allen company of Milwaukee, was fatally injured late Tuesday
afternoon, when he fell 25 feet from a dismantling job at the Kohler
plant in Kohler, Wis.
Mr. Biely, according to Sheboygan reports, was cutting an I-beam with
an acetylene torch while working 25 feet from the ground. The beam
swung over and brushed him from his footing. He fell headlong,
suffering a fractured skull and internal injuries. He died an hour
later at St. Nicholas hospital in Sheboygan.
Funeral services will be held at 8:30 a.m. Friday at the Pfeffer
funeral home and at 9 o'clock at Holy Innocents church. The Rev. E.
A. Radey will officiate and burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery.
He was born in Franklin in 1904 and came to this city to reside in
1923. In 1926 he married Miss Elsie Koch of Kossuth. He was employed
for a number of years as a burner at the Manitowoc Ship Building
company and more recently took employment with the Worden-Allen
company. He was a member of the Holy Name Society of the Holy
Innocents congregation.
Survivors are his wife; a son, Henry at home; three daughters; Mrs.
Robert Oswald of route 2, Manitowoc, and Joan and Sandra at home; two
brothers, Charles of Menchalville and George of Evansville, Wis.
Friends may call at the funeral home after 2 p.m. Thursday, where the
rosary will be recited at 8:30 p.m. Thursday.
