MRS. J. BIGEL PASSES AWAY
Widow of Former Manufacturer Dies At Hospital
Mrs. Veronica Bigel, 76, widow of Joseph Bigel, former manufacturer and
alderman, died this morning at the hospital.
Mrs. Bigel has been a patient at the institution since last October when
she fell at the home, 1108 South Eighth street and suffered a broken leg.
Her condition improved to such a degree last week it was planned to move
her home. Saturday she suffered a relapse and was unconscious until her
death.
Funeral services will be held Friday at 2 p.m. from the home. They will be
in charge of the Rev. F. C. St. Clair. Interment will be in Evergreen
cemetery.
Born in West Prussia
The maiden name of the deceased was Veronica Ziglinski. She was born in West
Prussia in 1860 and at the age of 5 accompanied her parents to America. They
located in this city. Fifty-four years ago she married Joseph Bigel. The
latter was one of the founders of the Bigel and Guse company and served the
first ward in the city council for several terms.
Mr. Bigel died 10 years ago.
Mrs. Bigel was a member of the South Side Ladies Aid society.
Survivors are two sons, Edwin and Max, both of this city; a daughter, Mrs.
Norman Hanunian, city; a sister, Elizabeth Ziglinski, Milwaukee; and two
grandchildren.
The body will be removed to the Bigel home on South Eighth street Thursday
afternoon from the Pfeffer funeral home.
