Manitowoc, died Tuesday, March 16, 1999, at Holy Family Memorial Medical
Center.
Funeral Services will be held at 11 a.m. on Thursday, March 18, 1999, at
Bethany Ev. Lutheran Church, Manitowoc. Rev. Bruce McKenney and Rev.
Robert Kujawski will officiate with burial in Evergreen Cemetery, Manitowoc.
Verona was born on April 18, 1915, in St. Nazianz, Wisc., daughter of
the late William and Anna Busse Holdorf. She was baptized and confirmed
at St. Peter's Ev. Lutheran Church, Collins. She attended the George
Washington Elementary School at St. Nazianz, and later attended
Lakeshore Technical College. During her younger years she worked as a
secretary at Lakeside Packing Co., in Manitowoc. On September 24, 1945,
she married Elmer R. Brachmann at First German Ev. Lutheran Church,
Manitowoc. Mr. Brachmann preceded her in death on April 29, 1992. Verona
was a member of Bethany Ev. Lutheran Church and Bethany Ladies Aid. She
had served as the Ladies Aid President and Treasurer.
Survivors include two children, Paul (Nancy) Brachmann, Manitowoc, Lydia
(Mark) Chenoweth, Brookfield; seven grandchildren, Brian (Tracy), Tanya,
Sarah and Daniel Brachmann, also Jessica, Jennifer and Joseph Hintz; one
great-granddaughter, Tyra; one step-great-granddaughter, Jessica; one
sister-in-law, Mabel Holdorf. Nieces, nephews, other relatives and
friends also survive. She was preceded in death by her parents, her
husband, two brothers and an infant sister.
Friends may call at Bethany Ev. Lutheran Church, on Thursday, from 10
a.m. until the time of service at 11 a.m.
Memorials would be appreciated to Bethany Ev. Lutheran Church or school.
The Harrigan Parkside Funeral Home assisted the Brachmann family with
funeral arrangements.
