Born April 9, 1920 in the town of Franklin Manitowoc County to the late Wencel John and Mary Cisler Hynek, Grace was a graduate of Manitowoc Lincoln HS with the class of 1937. On May 8, 1941 she married Ottmar A Brandel at St Mary Catholic Church Clarks Mills. They resided in Green Bay for 20 years returning to Manitowoc in 1988.
She was employed at Johnson Hills and the Boston Store in Manitowoc and also at the White Store in DePere retiring in 1973. The couple celebrated their golden wedding anniversary in 1991. She was a member of Holy Innocents Catholic Church and the Senior Citizens of Manitowoc. Grace enjoyed many hours of card playing with her friends.
Survivors include her husband Ottmar, Manitowoc; son David Brandel of Bridgeport, Conn.; sister Emily Kubichka, Manitowoc; sister-in-law Grace Hynek, Manitowoc; along with nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends.
Grace was preceded in death by an infant daughter Judith Brandel; 3 brothers: Edwin, Clarence and John Hynek.
The family will receive relatives and friends at Pfeffer Funeral Home Manitowoc 5-8pm Friday where a prayer service will be at 7pm led by Deacon Kenneth Nelesen. Friends may also call on Saturday morning at Pfeffer Funeral Home from 8am until the time of service at 9am. Memorials would be appreciated to the Arthritis Foundation.
