Adolph Cherney, 81, of Maribel Caves, Maribel, died Saturday morning at
Holy Family Hospital, Manitowoc, following a short illness.
Funeral services will be at 9 a.m. Monday at Urbanek and Schlei Funeral
Home, Manitowoc, and at 10 a.m. at St. James Catholic Church, Cooperstown.
The Rev. James Geenen will officiate and burial will be in Evergreen
Cemetery, Manitowoc.
Mr. Cherney was born April 26, 1892, in the Town of Kossuth, Manitowoc County,
son of the late John and Jennifer Kaminski Cherney. He married Elizabeth Karbon
October 22, 1913. In 1913 he formed the Cherney Construction Co. which he owned
and operated for 60 years. The company worked on federal, state and local
contracts. In 1932 he purchased Maribel Caves where he resided. In 1955 he
purchased Maribel Lumber Co. which is still in operation. Mr. Cherney was a
member of St. James Church, the Wisconsin Road Builders Assn., the Manitowoc
County Deputy Assn. and the Lakeshore Beagle Club.

A daughter, Norma, two sisters and two brothers preceded him in death.
Friends may call at the funeral home (State Street entrance) after 3 p.m. Sunday
where a parish Rosary will be held at 7 p.m.
