Robert C. Christman, age 73, of 4303 Knuell, St., Manitowoc, died Saturday,
April 27, 1996, at Froedtert Memorial Lutheran Hopsital (sic), Milwaukee.
Funeral Services will be held at 11:30 a.m. Wednesday, May 1, 1996, at Holy
Innocents Catholic Church, Manitowoc. Officiating at the Mass of Christian
Burial will be Rev. Dave Zimmerman with burial to follow at Evergreen Cemetery,
Manitowoc.
He was born January 2, 1923, in Kenosha, son of the late Clarence P. and Juanita
Houston Christman. Robert graduated from Marquette University High School and
then attended Marquette University. He was a veteran of World War II serving with
the Coast Guard. On April 19, 1947, he married the former Viginia (sic) Gruesser.
She preceded him in death November 14, 1974. On April 24, 1991, he married the
former Susan Farrell. Mr. Christman was a sales representative for Berkedahl and
Shimek for 21 years until his retirement in July of 1985. Robert enjoyed golf,
bowling and playing softball. He was a member of the Manitowoc Elks Club and
Kenny's Athletic Club.
Survivors include his wife, Susan, Manitowoc; four sons and three daughters-in-law,
Robert J. and Vicki Christman, Oshkosh, William J. and Pat Christman, Old Town,
Idaho, John A. and Kay Christman, Germany, Matthew J. Christman, at home; five
daughters and two sons-in-law, Kathleen and Gary Grable, Oshkosh, Virginia M.
Christman, Milwaukee, Janet M. Smith, San Diego, Calif., Mary M. and Bob Deen,
San Diego, Calif., Sarah J. Christman, at home; two step-daughters, Michelle LeClair,
Manitowoc, Amy LeClair, Newton, and her special friend, Michael Powalisz, Manitowoc;
10 grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; his mother-in-law and father-in-law,
Germaine and Robert Farrell, Manitowoc; two brothers and sisters-in-law, John and
Margaret Christman, Brookfield, Charles and Joan Christman, Delafield; two brothers-
in-law and their wives, Michael and Kathleen Farrell, Roseville, Minn., James P.
Farrell, and his fiancee, Kari Klabunde, Manitowoc; three sisters-in-law and their
husbands, Mary K. and Scott Rauguth, Milwaukee, Jean K. Farrell, St. Paul, Minn.,
Ann and Ken Novak, DePere. Also surviving are nieces, nephews, other relatives and
friends. He was preceded in death by an infant daughter, Margaret in 1950, and two
brothers, Richard and William.
Friends may call at Holy Innocents Catholic Church, Manitowoc, from 9 a.m. Wednesday
until the time of service at 11:30 a.m.
There will be no Tuesday evening visitation.
The Pfeffer Funeral Home, Manitowoc, is assisting the family with funeral arrangements.
