Allen C. Eberhardt, age 80, a Manitowoc resident died Friday morning March 8,
2002 at Aurora Medical Center in Two Rivers.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, March 12, 2002 at First German
Evangelical Lutheran Church, Manitowoc. The Rev. Bruce Bitter will officiate with
burial to follow in Evergreen Cemetery.
Allen was born April 6, 1921 in Manitowoc, son of the late Herbert and Leona
Pleuss Eberhardt. He grew up in Manitowoc and attended local schools, graduating
from Lincoln High School in 1938 and the University of Wisconsin-Madison in 1943.
On June 2, 1946 he was married to the former Sylvia Gaestel at First German
Evangelical Lutheran Church in Manitowoc. In 1952 Allen started A.C.E. Building
Service and owned the company until his retirement in 1987. In 1987 the couple
moved to Florida. He was a member of First German Evangelical Lutheran Church of
Manitowoc and a former deacon and elder of First German, charter member of New Life
Lutheran Church of Sebring, Fla., former member and president of the Manitowoc
Kiwanis Club and former Lt. Governor of the Kiwanis, former president of Manitowoc
Industrial Development Corporation, Manitowoc Chamber of Commerce and the Master
Builders of Manitowoc.
Survivors include his wife: Sylvia; one daughter and son-in-law: Joy and Bill Douglas
of Lake Placid, Fla., and Manitowoc; seven grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren;
three brothers-in-law and four sisters-in-law: George and Althea Gaestel of Manitowoc;
Caroline Schwalbe of Manitowoc; Arnold and Lorraine Gaestel of Green Bay; Melvin
and Karen Gaestel of Lakewood, Wis., and Lake Placid, Fla.; nieces, nephews, other
relatives and friend (sic) survive.
Relatives and friends may call at the Reinbold & Pfeffer Family Funeral Home of
Manitowoc on Monday, March 11, 2002 from 5 until 8 p.m. and on Tuesday at the church
from 10 a.m. until the time of services at 11 a.m.
