Frank Fierst Dies Friday at Home
Melnik - Frank Fierst, 70, died last Friday afternoon at his home following a
lingering illness. The Rev. Sherwood Roach officiated at the funeral service at
1:30 pm Monday at the Melnik Presbyterian Church. Burial was in the Evergreen
Cemetery, Manitowoc.
Mr. Fierst was born in Kossuth in 1885 and married to Emily Swetlik of Melnik
in 1907. They operated a farm near Francis Creek until retiring in 1948 when
they moved to Francis Creek.
Survivors include his wife; one son, Raymond on the homestead farm; five
daughters; three brothers and 12 grandchildren.

Frank Fierst, 70, of Francis Creek, retired farmer and lifelong resident of the
Town of Kossuth, died at 1 pm Friday at the home following a short illness.
Funeral services will be at 130 pm Monday at the Melnik Presbyterian Church,
the Rev. Sherwood W. Roach officiating. Burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery,
Manitowoc.
Mr. Fierst was born in the Town of Kossuth on July 4, 1885, son of the late Mr.
and Mrs. Emmanuel Fierst. On November 12, 1907 he married the former Emma Swetlik
and they settled on the Fierst homestead farm which they operated until 1948 when
they retired and moved to their present home at Francis Creek. The farm is now
operated by a son, Raymond. For 25 years, Mr. Fierst was a director of the school
board of the Francis Creek School, Kossuth No. 7.
Surviving him are his wife; a son, Raymond on the homestead farm; five daughters,
Mrs. George Miller of Manitowoc, Mrs. George Elfner of Milwaukee and Mrs. Victor
Feit, Mrs. Frank Neuser and Mrs. Francis Bolle of Francis Creek; three brothers,
Charlie and Emmanuel of Rt. 1, Whitelaw and Anton of Green Bay and 12 grandchildren.
A grandson, Airman Second Class Wayne Neuser is stationed at Hycombe Base, London,
England.
Friends may call at the Saur Funeral Home, Kellnersville, after 1:30 pm Sunday until
10 am Monday when the casket will be moved to the church where the body will lie in
state until the hour of service.
