ELEANOR SPEVACEK FRANKE (d. 2003)
Eleanor M. Franke, age 86, of 1229 S. 21st St., Manitowoc, died Thursday evening,
May 15, 2003, at River's Bend Health & Rehabilitation Center, Manitowoc.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, May 20, 2003, at The Pfeffer
Funeral Home and 11 a.m. at St. Mary Catholic Church, Manitowoc. Officiating at
the Mass of Christian Burial will be the Rev. Thomas Wojciechowski O.F.M. with
burial to follow at Evergreen Cemetery, Manitowoc.
Eleanor was born June 24, 1916, in Cooperstown, daughter of the late Anton and
Mary Mleziva Spevacek. On June 8, 1938, she married Milton Franke at St. Boniface
Catholic Church. He preceded her in death April 26, 1998. Eleanor was employed at
Mirro Aluminum Co. for seven years and later held a secretarial position with
Manitowoc Board of Education for 22 years, retiring in 1978. She was a member of
the Manitowoc County Historical Society for more than 20 years and an honorary
member of the Manitowoc County Garden Club, formerly Men's Garden Club.
Survivors include three sons and daughters-in-law: Robert and Judie Franke,
Manitowoc; Richard and Linda Franke, West Bend; and Roger and Ann Franke, Davenport,
Iowa. Also surviving are nine grandchildren, five great-grandchildren, other
relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by a brother: Eugene.
The family will greet relatives and friends at The Pfeffer Funeral Home & Cremation
Care Center, Manitowoc, from 4 to 8 p.m. Monday where a prayer service will be held
at 7 p.m. led by Deacon Robert Drobka
