Dorothy M. Gates, age 85, a former Manitowoc resident, died early Sunday morning,
October 27, 1996, at Hamilton Memorial Home, Two Rivers.
Funeral Services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, October 30, 1996, at the
Pfeffer Funeral Home, Manitowoc. Officiating at the service will be Rev. Jay Smoke
with burial to follow in Evergreen Cemetery, Manitowoc.
She was born August 30, 1911, in Green Bay, daughter of the late Arthur and Pauline
Eichwald Stronks. Dorothy was a graduate of Manitowoc Lincoln High School, class
of 1929. On October 3, 1929, she married Albert Gates at Sacred Heart Catholic
Church, Two Rivers. He preceded her in death October 24, 1981. Mrs. Gates was a
volunteer worker with the Gray Ladies of the Red Cross at Holy Family Hospital for
many years and was past president of the Shady Lane Auxiliary.
Survivors include one daughter, Virginia Wojta, Two Rivers; one son and daughter-in-
law, Neil and Carol Gates, Littleton, Colo.; four grandchildren, Denise and Rick
Elfering, Cindy and Wally Panosh, all of Two Rivers, Craig and Alyson Gates, both of
Littleton, Colo.; three great-grandchildren, Erin and Adam Panosh, Tony Elfering,
all of Two Rivers. Also surviving are other relatives and friends. She was preceded
in death by a son-in-law, Larry Wojta.
Friends may call at the Pfeffer Funeral Home from 9 a.m. Wednesday until the time of
service at 11 a.m.
The family wishes to thank the staff and residents of the Wisteria Haus for all their
loving kindness given our mother and grandmother during her 1 1/2 year stay with them.
We also want to thank the Hamilton Memorial Home and Two Rivers Community Hospital
for the love and kindness shown.
