MARTHA HANSEN (d. 1921)
OLD RESIDENT OF THIS CITY DIES IN NEVADA
A message received here conveys the sad news of the death of Mrs. Martha, widow
of Capt. Rasmus Hanson, which occurred at nine o’clock yesterday morning at the
home of her son Bernard at Reno, Nevada, with whom she has been visiting since
February. Though known to be ailing, her condition was not considered serious and
the news of her death came as a shock to the family residing here. The decedent
was born in Norway December 14, 1853, and came to this country when seventeen years
of age to join her parents who had preceded her here. But for the first four years
after her arrival, which she spent in Chicago, Mrs. Hanson has resided here con-
tinuously and in the same home, namely at 602 Huron street. Besides her son Bernard
four children residing here, survive her. They are Mrs. Otis Evanson, Richard,
Benjamin and Spencer Hanson. The remains will be brought here for burial and will
probably arrive by the end of the week. Funeral arrangements will be made known
later.
