DENA HANSON

DEATH COMES TO END SUFFERINGS OF MRS. HANSON
Mrs. Dena Hanson, wife of Capt. H. L. Hanson, died at 2:30 o’clock this morning
after a lingering illness which has confined her to the home for some weeks. The
end came peacefully and was a release from suffering. The death, while not
unexpected, was a shock to relatives and friends. The funeral will be held Monday
afternoon with services at 2 o’clock at St. Paul ’s Lutheran church, Tenth and
St. Claire street , the Rev. O. K. Espeseth officiating and burial will be at
Evergreen cemetery.
Mrs. Hanson was born at Kragero, Norway, September 7, 1860 and was sixty-two years
of age. She came to Manitowoc with her parents at the age of eleven, in 1871, and
has since made her home in this city, living for a half century in the block where
the present home is. December 8, 1879 she was married to Capt. Hanson, who with six
sons and three daughters: Herbert of Madison, Burton, of Two Rivers, Edward, who is
attending Carroll College at Waukesha, __ton, Arthur and Marcus, at home and three
daughters, Mrs. Hans Erts, Semoan Islands; Della, Oklahoma City and Ruth at home,
survive her. Six grandchildren also survive her. Mrs. Hanson was a home loving woman
and other than belonging to the church societies and taking an active part in the
church work, was not identified with any of the organizations of the city. She made
a wide circle of friends in her home life and news of her death comes to them as
distinct loss.
