ALBERT HAUKOHL

Albert Haukohl, born 30 years ago in Newton. He was married about
four years ago and leaves only one child, his first-born having died.
Der Nord Westen, Nov. 29, 1883
*********
Albert Haukohl of this city died on Thursday of last week after a sickness of
some years. Although confined to his house only for a few months. In the fall
of 1880 Mr. Haukohl contracted a severe cold while taking part in the election
campaign. Being quite robust he did not give it the attention its seriousness
demanded and it settled on his lungs. He sought health in a milder climate but
getting slight relief again came to Manitowoc. He managed to conduct his
business although his strength was gone. Some months ago he was forced to keep
to the house and the end came last week.
A few years ago there was no man in the county in more vigorous health or whose
appearance promised a longer life. His habits were good, and this together with
constant exercise developed him physically so that he had few equals in muscular
strength among men of corresponding size. He had a most kindly disposition, was
generous, thoroughly honest and a respected and intelligent citizen. He was a
general favorite among his associates.
He was born in Newton in 1853 and resided continuously in this county. Four years
ago he was married to Emma Bibinger. His funeral took place on Sunday last and
the length of the procession was a proof of the estimation in which the man was
held to whom this final token of respect was given.
