FIRST ILLNESS FATAL, ALBERT HEISE, PIONEER
Resident Here For Seventy-five Years, Dies At the Home of His Son
Contracting a cold less than a week ago which developed into pneumonia, Albert
Heise, who on Thursday of this week reached his eighty-first birthday, passed
away early this morning at the home of his son, Otto Heise, 1109 Division street,
with whom he made his home. A resident of Manitowoc for over seventy-five years,
the deceased was engaged in dairying and farming, and up until his illness that
terminated fatally had never been confined to his bed.
Mr. Heise was born in Germany Oct. 25, 1837 and came to America with his parents
when a small child. The family located in Manitowoc where the deceased has since
made his home. He was married 61 years ago to Miss Augusta Voigt, who preceded
him in death fifteen years ago.
Burial on Tuesday
Two daughters, Mrs. Joseph Hermann of this city and Mrs. Max Dittmer of Chicago,
three sons, Richard, Otto and Edward Heise all of this city, two brothers, August
and Fred Heise of this city, and two sisters, Mrs. Gustave Umnus of this city and
Mrs. Fred C. Brockmann of St. Paul survive. There are also sixteen grandchildren
and nineteen great grandchildren.
Burial will take place on Tuesday afternoon at two o'clock from the Wesley M.E.
church, Ninth and Hamilton streets with interment at Evergreen.
