ALBERT KRETSCH

Albert Kretsch Takes
Own Life
Albert Kretsch, 38, of 1521 Clark street, ended his life with a bullet
fired into his head from a 25-3.000 level-action rifle, in rear room of his home
early Monday evening, police reported.
According to the police report, Kretsch
had returned to his home from his job at the Rahr Malting company and when his
wife and two children were in the front part of the first floor apartment, got
out the hunting rifle, placed it on the floor and pulled the trigger, the shot
entering his jaw and emerging to lodge in the ceiling.
Neighbors told Officers
Chester Saduske and Daniel Langenkamp, who answered the call that Kretsch had
threatened to end his life on previous occasions. The home has been saddened in
recent weeks due to the fact that a 14 year old daughter is a polio patient in
the convalescent ward at the Holy Family hospital.
Coroner Theodore Teitgen,
who was summoned, announced there would be no inquest.Funeral services will be
held at 2 p.m. Wednesday at the Pfeffer funeral home, the Rev. F. C. St. Clair
officiating. Burial will be in Evergreen cemetery.
Mr. Kretsch was born in 1908
in the town of Schleswig. He married Margaret Roach
in 1932 and the couple
settled in Rockville where they lived until four years ago. They then moved to
Manitowoc, where he took employment as a fireman at the Rahr Malting company.

He is survived by his wife, two daughters, Janet and Margaret both at home; a
son, Patrick at home and his father, Mathias Kretsch Sr. Other survivors include
sisters, Mrs. Arthur Melhorn, Madison, Mrs. Andrew Diels, Plymouth , Mrs.
Phillip Mauer of route 1, Kiel , Mrs. Henry Bushman of Manitowoc, Mrs. Joseph
Lenz of Manitowoc and Mrs. Robert Kieckhaeffer of Washington state and four
brothers: Frank of Cedar Lake, Mathias Jr. of Oregon, Daniel of route 1,
Manitowoc, and Hubert of Manitowoc.
